Sunday Golf Ryder Bag Review

The Sunday Golf Ryder Bag demonstrates that size can indeed make a difference. This is Sunday Golf’s largest bag to date, yet it remains true to the brand’s values offering affordability, lightweight convenience, and a host of practical features.

Sunday Golf has built its reputation on minimalist, lightweight designs, making the most out of compact space. The Loma and Loma XL bags, perfect for carrying partial club sets, showcase how modern minimalism isn’t just for interior design it works for golf too. However, for golfers like me who prefer to carry a complete set of clubs, Sunday Golf now provides the ideal solution with the full-size Sunday Golf Ryder Bag.

Looks

Sunday isn’t breaking new ground in golf bag design with the Ryder Bag, opting instead for a clean and relatively traditional appearance. It features adjustable straps, a pair of stand legs, and a patch for holding gloves. The design is mostly monochromatic, with a primary color accented by black and minimal branding for a sleek, understated look.

In terms of color options, the selection is somewhat limited. While the smallest Sunday Golf bag boasts 14 different colorways, the Ryder Bag is currently available in just five: matte black, navy blue, heather gray, toasted almond, and midnight green. These neutral tones are versatile and can easily complement any golfer’s wardrobe. However, those seeking bolder, more vibrant color choices will need to stick with the smaller bags for now.

Features

The standout feature of the Sunday Golf Ryder Bag is its full-size design. Measuring 34.5 inches in height, it is the first and only Sunday Golf bag that allows you to comfortably carry a complete set of 14 clubs. It includes a 5-way top with five full-length dividers for effective organization.

However, we all know that golfing isn’t just about the clubs, so I’m pleased to share that the insulated frosty pocket is designed to hold several cans of your preferred beverage, keeping them cool and refreshing.

This pocket is just one of seven specialized compartments on the bag, each crafted with a specific purpose in mind. Beyond the frosty beverage pocket, there are dedicated spaces for valuables, golf balls, apparel, a rangefinder, a smell-proof compartment for a backup golf glove, and a mesh pocket for any other essentials you might need on the course. Of these, the velour-lined valuables pocket truly stands out for its luxurious texture and stylish red interior. While each pocket can be repurposed as needed, the thoughtful attention to detail in the design reflects a focus on practicality, weight distribution, and smart space utilization.

Performance

What immediately stands out about the Sunday Golf Ryder Bag is its incredible lightness. This signature feature of Sunday Golf’s design is a major reason why I’m a fan of their smaller bags. However, that lightweight quality in their compact models does come with a limitation; they’re primarily suited for par-3 courses or range sessions where you only need a few clubs. The Ryder Bag, on the other hand, bridges the gap beautifully. It accommodates a full set of clubs while preserving the lightweight feel, making it an excellent choice for both the range and the course.

Weighing just 4.9 pounds, it’s incredibly lightweight and convenient to carry for 9, 18, or even more holes. The adjustable, padded double straps are comfortable and user-friendly. Features like the gloves and towel holders were particularly useful for saving space. I also appreciated the added mobility and flexibility provided by the two extra handles. Furthermore, I didn’t experience the fatigue I often feel with many of the heavier, full-sized golf bags. The stand legs were especially durable and highly responsive, smoothly extending and retracting as needed.

That being said, I usually ride rather than walk on courses, and this bag was specifically created with that preference in mind. A few strong design features worth mentioning include the cart pass-through strap and the bag’s flat-bottomed base. These features inherently make the golf cart experience more seamless. Additionally, there are small rainproofing elements, such as water-resistant zippers and a rain hood, which are practical additions to have.

The Sunday Golf Ryder Bag demonstrates that the brand excels not only in crafting compact bags but also in producing outstanding golf bags of any size. Sunday’s latest offering is lightweight, affordable, and user-friendly mirroring the qualities of its smaller counterparts. It’s a fantastic option for those who already own other Sunday bags or a great upgrade for anyone seeking to replace their full-sized primary golf bag.
